High-end rubber straps are a world in themselves, but I think Hermès' H08 strap is perhaps the best execution this side of the Aquanaut's grenade strap. Alongside the chronograph, Hermès also released four new colors (blue, orange, green, yellow) of its three-hander H08 in a new, glass fiber composite case. Rounding out the inaugural H08 collection is a pair of straightforward titanium watches, one with a rubber strap and the other with a matching titanium bracelet. Once more, these variants employ a diverse interplay of materials with black nickel-coated dials, rhodium-plated hands and applied Arabic numerals, as well as a black gold-coated . The all-new Hermès H08 doesn’t come on a leather strap. Hermès, arguably most famous for its craftmanship and artistry in leather, didn’t kit out the new H08 with a leather strap. No calf, no ostrich and no alligator. No sustainable vegan leather either. Rubber in two colors and a titanium bracelet is what you’ll find on the H08.
The lightweight titanium case, comfortable and well-constructed strap, lumed hands, AR-coating, and yes, 100M of water resistance, back this up pretty well. The Hermès H08 comes in three varieties: classic titanium; a black DLC-coated titanium (which is the one I went hands-on with here); and a Graphene case. The all-terrain ruggedness combined with the colorful strap options telegraphed a sharp curve away from the brand's more classic designs, but the rose gold softens that zig. Nearly all of the specs have remained the same, 39mm cushion-shaped case, Hermes manufacture Caliber H1837, same Arabic numerals specifically designed for the watch ( pay . I really dig the whole luxury field watch vibe. It goes well with almost any strap too. The included rubber strap is super comfy, but the H08 plays well with Barton rubber and fabric straps. This camo one looked way better than I thought it would!
